Continue reading »]]> The University of the Philippines Library Science Alumni Association (UPLSAA) would like to announce the start of the UPLSAA Executive Board 2012-2013 elections. We highly encourage all UP School of Library and Information Studies alumni to cast their votes and choose 7 out of the 15 nominees for this year.

Please check Seven (7) nominees. Remember, your vote is void if you have more than 7 choices. The election will run from March 26 to April 30, 2012.

There are three (3) ways to vote:

Continue reading »]]> To mark the 50^th anniversary of the UP School of Library and Information Studies (UP SLIS) and the 62^nd anniversary of the UP Library Science Alumni Association (UPLSAA), the recognition will be given to 10 distinguished alumni.  A first for the Association since its establishment in 1950, this aims to increase public awareness about the accomplishments of UP SLIS alumni and also inspire the younger generation to strive for excellence in their field. The UPLSAA Distinguished Alumni Awards recognizes the exceptional contributions of the alumni in the field of Library Science.

The UPLSAA 10 Distinguished Alumni Awards will be conferred on alumni who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions in the field of library and information science and given distinct honor to the University.  Recognition is given for achievements and contributions that impact the community in which the alumni are or have been active, either at the local, national or international level.

Nominations for these awards may be made by any UPSLIS alumnus.  Evaluation of nominees and selection of awardees will be made by the selected UPLSAA Panel of Judges and affirmed by the UPLSAA Board of Directors.

Nominations should be received by the UPLSAA not later than 15 April 2012 and/or postmarked not later than the above date.  Only complete and properly accomplished forms shall be accepted.

As part of the celebration of the 50th Golden Anniversary of our beloved School, let us all show our full support by wearing the Little Miss/Mister Librarian or SLIS@50 shirt or any white colored shirt as we walk during the parade. There will also be an after-party after the Lantern Parade for all of us. More details about the assembly time and place will be posted soon.

Continue reading »]]> We would like to congratulate Ms. Carina C. Samaniego for winning the theme-making contest sponsored by UPLSAA. Her entry will be used as the main theme of the 62nd UPLSAA Alumni Homecoming and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the UP SLIS.

Along with that distinction, Carina will receive a cash prize worth 1,500 pesos and a 500 pesos Sodexho gift certificate.

Library Science Alumni Association (UPLSAA) in cooperation with the CFC Kids for Christ had an outreach activity last September 24, 2011 at the Urban Settlers Day Care Center at Singkamas St., Brgy. Tumana, Concepcion, Marikina City. The organization gave sets of school supplies and also helped serve snacks to the students of the day care.
